how!! Or have you tried in the past and given up out of frustration? We can help.This is the right time of year to get your seeds in a row, so to speak, so thaw out
your garden wish lists and join us. Don’t have one yet? After our brief introduction to vegetable gardens, we promise you will! Important factors such as choosing the

Session 2: Saturday, February 27 10:00am – 1:00pm

| This session will focus on some important considerations for growing a healthy, prolific vegetable garden. We’ll cover journaling, sun exposure, air circulation, frost pockets, microclimates, existing elements (i.e. walls & trees) and drainage and more. By understanding the hand you’ve been dealt and how to work with Mother Nature, you’ll be one step closer to success. Using assessments from your own site introduced in Session 1, we’ll explore a variety of scenarios and how to adapt to each. |

The Garden of Edible Delights Vegetable Gardening Session #3

Session 3: Saturday, March 6 10:00am – 1:00pm On Solid Ground |
| During this session we’ll talk about what your soil must contain in order to grow
healthy vegetables. We’ll look at soil textures types and the how’s and why’s of soil sampling. Amendments, manures, cover crops, compost, fertilizers and tilling methods will also be introduced. An introduction to crop rotation and crop selection will also be included. |

Session 4: Saturday, March 13 10:00am – 1:00pm Ready… Set… Start Your Seeds |
| All winter long, gardeners’ mailboxes overflow with seed catalogues that offer
inspiration, mind-boggling options and best of all…the thought of good green things growing after the long, cold winter. We’ll begin by looking at different varieties of leafy greens, cole crops, cucurbits, legumes, nightshades, alliums and root vegetables and how their seeds are sown. Then, we’ll consider the best choices for a host of different garden conditions. A hands-on tutorial including an assortment of veggie seeds to sow and propagation supplies to bring home will be included.Materials Fee $10 |

Session 5: Saturday, March 20 10:00am – 1:00pm Integrated Pest, Deer and Weed Management |
| This section will be a whirlwind introduction to keeping unwanted intruders out of your garden…and what to do when you can’t. We’ll focus on Integrated Pest Management. IPM combines age-old, common sense practices for organically controlling pests and plant pathogens with identification, natural predators, insect growth regulators and non-toxic, natural pesticides. We’ll also address deer, woodchuck, chipmunks and our best experience-based suggestions for keeping their paws (and jaws) off of your veggies! Come and learn about these ecologically
intelligent and budget friendly tricks for keeping a healthy garden using the least possible hazard to yourself, your property, and the environment.

Session 6: Saturday, March 27 10:00am – 1:00pm Transplanting Seedlings & Common Weed Identification |
We’ll start with a practical hands-on lesson in the teaching vegetable garden. We’ll cover seedling I.D., hardening off, tips and timing for transplanting and thinning seedlings. We’ll also look at some crops that are best sown directly into the soil.
Later, we’ll have a tutorial on some common garden weeds. You’ll leave with a better understanding of what gets pulled and what stays put, being able to tell the
difference between clever look-alikes.Materials Fee $10
