Impressive Entryways with Barbara Pierson

Come be inspired by Barb Pierson, White Flower Farm’s 1st class horticulturist. Barb, a graduate of Cornell's School of Horticulture is known for her charm, good humor, and encyclopedic knowledge of ornamentals and edibles; Barb’s talks are both enormously instructive and highly entertaining. Her use of dramatic and colorful plant combinations, plus the latest in container trends, will give us all new ideas for our own “Impressive Entryways!”


Dahlias: What Should I be Doing Now?

Find the answers to growing stunning dahlias with Tom Cleere, three term President of Mid Island Dahlia Society and ADS Senior Judge. Tom and Lydia have won many high awards in shows from Pennsylvania to Rhode Island, Including 7 awards at our latest Dazzling Dahlias Show. We are delighted to welcome Tom back to Greenwich to share his knowledge and to take us through soil and tuber preparation during March, April and May. A wide selection of tuber varieties will be available for pre-ordering.



Tree Identification with Bruce
Wednesday, March 28 - 10:00 a.m.

Join us for an informational morning as Bruce Spaman, Town of Greenwich Tree Warden, leads us through the process of Native Tree identification using twigs, buds, bark, leaves and silhouettes. Weather permitting, this class will include a tree tour through the Montgomery Pinetum so wear appropriate shoes and clothing.Class size limited so sign up early.


Hands on Pruning Workshop
Thursday, March 29 ~ 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Shake off your fear of pruning and join the GEC Director of Horticulture, Lisa Beebe for a morning of hands-on instruction. She will cover what time of the year is best to prune certain types of plants and which ones need to be re-trimmed as the season goes on. It is a hands on workshop, so bring your pruning tools and gloves and you will be able to practice what you have learned.
