2018 Plants of the Year
Our annual Plant of the year fundraiser offers a unique collection of plants for the Garden enthusiast. This year we are offering some wonderful, easy care roses, and some hot new perennials that will put a smile on your face for the entire growing season. These exclusive offerings have a limited availability and orders are filled on a first come first served basis. Pick up will be May 3rd and 4th from 10 - 4 PM.
Geum ’Cosmopolitan’ - Captivating semi-double flowers resemble miniature roses. Ruffled creamy petals, blushed with rosy-pink tones offers a soft romantic look to the early summer border or in a container. Plants form a low clump of coarse green leaves, with branching stems bearing medium-sized rounded flowers. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage more buds. Geum prefer rich, well-drained, moist soil and grows best in morning sun with afternoon shade. Good winter drainage is necessary for survival. Attracts butterflies and is Rabbit and Deer resistant.

Phlox ‘Blue Paradise’ - Another fabulous selection from Dutch landscape designer Piet Oudolf, this intriguing mildew resistant form of our elegant native is a treasure in any garden. In July and August, flowers that open deep blue in the morning, take on purplish shades during the heat of midday, then regain their original indigo coloring in the evening. They attract butterflies and hummingbirds with their spicy vanilla-clove perfume and make perfectly enchanting in bouquets. Planted in full sun and moist soil, this gem will become a beautiful 2-3’ mound.

'Julia Child' Rose - Known as the “Absolutely fabulous rose”, ‘Julia Child’ produces buttery yellow blooms with a licorice-clove fragrance, that its’ namesake would have loved in the kitchen. This easy care rose produces an endless supply of buds and very full blooms for almost 5 months. Planted in full sun, this gem will become a beautiful 3-4’ mound in a container, or in a flower border. Cut stems hold well in a vase. Hardy to zone 4.

'Easy Spirit' Rose - An upright, compact plant, Easy Spirit bears an abundance of large, creamy white, blooms from spring to fall over deep green, disease resistant foliage. The flowers are so full, that they can be seen from a distance or at night when the moon is out. Butterflies are drawn to their fragrance. They make wonderful fresh floral arrangements and show-stopping bouquets. This dazzling shrub grows 4’ high and wide in full to part sun and well drained soil and is a landscape star!

Salvia ’Rhapsody in Blue’ - selected by renowned plantsman Piet Oudolf for its superior flowers and upright, bushy habit, this Salvia produces a profusion of brilliant blue-violet flower spikes above the grey-green foliage in early summer. If cut back, it often re-blooms. This is a 24” clump forming perennial has oblong leaves which are aromatic when crushed. Use this plant in containers or the middle of the flower border. Grows in full sun and well drained soil. This pollinator favorite attracts Hummingbirds, Bees and Butterflies and is Deer and Rabbit resistant.
